kicking leavesThe photo is an example of fast shutter speed. The feet show the fast motion of kicking leaves. The camera captured a moment when the leaves are in the air. Color is an important element in this shot - the green on the sole of the shoe contrasts with the red leaves on the ground. The rule of thirds is followed as the staircase is in the left column, and the shoes are in the middle column. This photo has a sense of mystery because only the feet are shown in the picture- you don't know who the person is in the photo, and why they are standing in a corner kicking leaves.

wing manIn this picture we used a slow shutter speed of about 15 seconds and a red light to draw the shape of wings behind the figure. Because the photo was taken in complete darkness and the figure was only illuminated from behind, the person becomes a silhouette. The figure looks mysterious because we don't know what is behind him. The wings appear to be lighting up the walls in the background. The line of the table on the left and the line of the poster on the right point to the person.

life in californiaThis vertical photograph follows the rule of thirds. It shows depth and is an example of framing, leading lines and foreground, middle ground, background. I took this photo in Santa Monica where palm trees are everywhere. The lines of the palm trees each tilt to the left. The vibrant colors of the blue sky and green palm trees are important in this photo. There is motion as the car in the foreground is moving, and I was also walking across the street when I took the picture.

santa monica pierThis photo was also taken in California. I took the picture to capture the textured sand in the foreground and the interesting lines and shapes on the pier in the background. The amusement rides create dynamic postive and negative shapes. In the middle ground, the cones and trash cans create an implied line moving diagonally across the beach towards the bike path. The photograph documents an important landmark in California.

sun setThis photo was taken at the top of one of Fall River's many hills. This photo shows light and the sun flare of the light of the sun behind the leaves which creates a a rainbow affect of sunlight. I took this photograph after I walked my bike up this huge hill; I was so happy it was over that i took a picture of it. This photograph has depth and space- the foreground is the shadow in the front, the middle ground is the car on the right and the background is the bottom of the hill.

lap zeroI used 2 mirrors and found the correct angle and point of view to photograph the car to create a circle. The circular line of this image shows radial balance. Also, the border of the mirrors lead to the car making the main focus the original bottom right car. The repetition of the red car makes it look like the car is driving around a race track showing stop action of each step it moved.
